Stable Birational Equivalence and Geometric Chevalley-warning

چکیده
We propose a ‘geometric Chevalley-Warning’ conjecture, that is a motivic extension of the Chevalley-Warning theorem in number theory. It is equivalent to a particular case of a recent conjecture of F. Brown and O.Schnetz. In this paper, we show the conjecture is true for linear hyperplane arrangements, quadratic and singular cubic hypersurfaces of any dimension, and cubic surfaces in P. The last section is devoted to verifying the conjecture for certain special kinds of hypersurfaces of any dimension. As a by-product, we obtain information on the Grothendieck classes of the affine ‘Potts model’ hypersurfaces considered in [AM].

K-equivalence in Birational Geometry
In this article we survey the background and recent development on the Kequivalence relation among birational manifolds. The content is based on the author’s talk at ICCM-2001 at Taipei. I would like to dedicate this article to Professor Chern, Shiing-shen to celebrate his 90th birthday. For manifolds, K-equivalence is the same as c1-equivalence. In this sense, a major part of birational geomet...
متن کاملBirational Motivic Homotopy Theories and the Slice Filtration
We show that there is an equivalence of categories between the orthogonal components for the slice filtration and the birational motivic stable homotopy categories which are constructed in this paper. Relying on this equivalence, we are able to describe the slices for projective spaces (including P), Thom spaces and blow ups. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 14F42
متن کاملA counterexample to the geometric Chevalley-Warning conjecture
We construct a quartic threefold with L-rational singularities which has torsion in its middle homology group. This answers a question of Brown and Schnetz for all fields of characteristic zero.
متن کاملBirational Geometry Old and New
A classical problem in algebraic geometry is to describe quantities that are invariants under birational equivalence as well as to determine some convenient birational model for each given variety, a minimal model. One such quantity is the ring of objects which transform like a tensor power of a differential of top degree, known as the canonical ring. The histories of the existence of minimal m...
متن کاملArithmetical Birational Invariants of Linear Algebraic Groups over Two-dimensional Geometric Fields Mikhail Borovoi and Boris Kunyavskĭi with an Appendix by Philippe Gille
Let G be a connected linear algebraic group over a geometric field k of cohomological dimension 2 of one of the types which were considered by Colliot-Thélène, Gille and Parimala. Basing on their results, we compute the group of classes of R-equivalence G(k)/R, the defect of weak approximation AΣ(G), the first Galois cohomology H(k,G), and the Tate–Shafarevich kernel x(k,G) (for suitable k) in ...
